Kaiju: Our Akita/Golden Retriever Mix

Kaiju - our Golden Akita MixWe are proud to introduce a new member to our family! Meet Kaiju, our Akita / Golden Retriver Mix.

Kaiju means “Strange Beast” in Japanese and is usually used to refer to large monsters, such as Godzilla. We wanted a Japanese name for him and had a difficult time narrowing down options… Toshiro and Kiba were also high on the list, buy Kaiju won out

Kaiju and our sonWe’re unsure how large he will be. His daddy was a big Akita and his mommy was a Golden… his features resemble the Akita more (including the flipped up tail!), but size-chart wise he is following along with the Golden chart, so we’ll see!

His first vet appointment went great and the vet thinks he will be an interesting and fun mix of dog. He’s very calm and great with our kids, and is amazingly smart and quick at house training.

Follow our blog for more updates on our puppy. I have tried researching the Golden Akita mix but it doesn’t appear to be amazingly common… I’m surprised because I would think this mix would be more common.

Wanting to get new puppy

I want to get a new puppy. But I want to make sure that this puppy will be a breed that will get along with my English Mastiff/Akita mix. She is a female that is fixed. Very hyper and rough in her play, but also very sweet and loving.I want to make sure that they will mesh well. I know that all dogs have a certain personality type and I was just wondering what personality type would best suite her breed(s)?
Thanks!

What little credibility the OP had was lost

When the pets and children comparison was brought into this mix. And while I understand that several people disagree with me when I say that dogs are NOT children, I couldn't imagine ever treating the breeds I own/have owned as children (Pitt x Akita, 2 English Bulldogs, 1 Australian Cattle Dog,and 1, soon to be 2, Cane Corso Mastiff). It's a formula for disaster in my household.
